This game is an experiment in combining the classic physical game Twister with a branching narrative.

Description of the Work
Entanglement is a game for 3 players, in which each player takes a turn to make a decision along the game’s branching narrative path. With each decision comes an attached instruction for placing a limb/finger onto a specific colour spot on a grid of coloured spots (red, green, blue, and yellow). As players move forward in the story, their bodies become more entangled, making it more difficult to make certain decisions.

Entanglement has digital and physical components. The digital component is Twine branching interactive narrative, about a protagonist in a surreal and absurd world looking to further their music career by attending a party full of influential music industry stars, with the help of the “information god.” The physical components are two Twister “boards” that can be chosen based on the player group’s preference. One is a small board with watercolour sweat drops attached to a table surface where players can place their fingers. The other is a number of cut out coloured sweat drops attached to a wall and the floor under it, to accommodate full body play.
How the Work Relates to the Theme
We decided on creating a game that could literally make players sweat, as they would be asked to hold their bodies in sometimes difficult and stressful positions, and eventually in direct contact with others’ bodies.
The narrative’s theme also relates, exploring anxiety around getting closer to others.
